JANUARY 19, 2014: SENG HOUT HOTEL, DINNER-BLUE GECKO CAFE

January 19, 2014

We arrive at the BB dock at 4:15 pm with  horn blasting to announce our arrival.  I'm worried because I had e-mailed our hotel with an earlier time.  Not to worry as we spot a guy with our hotel sign.  It seems they listen for the horn.  In no time at all we and all our bags are loaded on to his tuk tuk.  In minutes we are at our hotel-SENG HOUT.   A very good location right in the center of town.

These are the stairs we have to go up!

Lots of signs

This is our guy!

We check in and pay $34 for our 2 nights.  This is a nice hotel that I found on Trip Advisor.     www.senghouthotel.com    It was highly recommended so I booked our stay via internet and e-mail.  It even has a roof top pool.  It is clean, comfortable, and very affordable.  Breakfast is not included but the hotel does have a small cafe near the lobby area where we will have breakfast.  Our room is 209 and it lives up to all the good reviews I've read.  I make arrangements with the hotel for a tuk tuk for the day tomorrow.  One of the things we want to do is the Bamboo Train.

We check out the roof top pool and the view.  There is a large sitting area up here also.  Very nice!

Getting hungry we decide to go to dinner and Tin (I think that's his name) who is associated with the hotel takes us to the BLUE GECKO CAFE in his tuk tuk.  He will return for us in an hour or so.  Downstairs is a gift shop but I have no time to browse.  We head upstairs.  There are 2 options for seating-inside or outside.  We opt to sit at one of the tables outside on the perimeter.  There is a view to the street below.  We order beef tacos and chicken burritos.  The food is filling and satisfactory-nothing spectacular.  Service was good.  Cost-under $16.  Tuk tuk round trip $3.

Upon returning to our hotel we do a bit of unpacking and decide to have an early night.  It has been a long day.
